Doug is the author of several (occasionally award-winning) full-length, one-act, and ten-minute plays. He has an affinity for re-storying maligned female protagonists and works which resist queer erasure with a style which is whimsical and poetic.

Doug holds his BFA in Acting from Southern Oregon University. He has spent decades on stage and while he enjoys doing contemporary and comedic work, his real passion is in performing Shakespeare’s tragedies and histories.

Directing

Doug does theatre instead of film precisely because it is a collaborative art form. He believes that every artist involved should be provided an outlet through which to express themselves through the production. A longtime acting coach, Doug’s approach has always been character focused.

teaching & Coaching

Doug has taught acting at the University of Oregon for four years, including Intro to Acting, Movement for the Actor, and various workshops in Laban, Shakespeare, panto, and character study. Outside of the university setting, he offers in-studio group classes as well as individual lessons.
