Meet DOUG
Doug currently lives in Eugene, Oregon with his husband Calvin and their boxer-ridgeback, Harper.
He is currently producing and directing a documentary about the Oregon Cabaret Theatre, a musical dinner theatre venue which has been operating continuously in Ashland, Oregon for over 40 years.
Doug loves camping, writing, video games, and getting to work with the incredible and inspiring young actors and artists at the University of Oregon.
Doug is a playwright, actor, director, and theatre educator from Chugiak, Alaska.
He earned his BFA in Acting from the competitive conservatory-style program at Southern Oregon University (2006).
Doug is a graduate teaching fellow and concurrent master’s student pursuing dual degrees in Theatre Arts and Folklore & Public Culture at the University of Oregon, where he teaches acting. His current research focuses contemporary adaptations of theatrical superstition and queer-authored gender parody in British Christmastime panto.

doug’s philosophy
As an artist
Doug is highly collaborative and believes that the best work always comes from working with other artists. He believes art should have something to say but that it doesn’t always have to be something profound. Sometimes art for fun is exactly what’s needed.
as an educator
Doug loves working with young adults, particularly those new to acting or just getting started in their careers. He tries to create a safe, fun, welcoming environment where students can feel free to try new things, fail, and keep going until they nail it.
As a person
Doug brings a professional, relaxed energy with him. He takes his craft seriously but tries not to take himself too seriously. He believe there is a Goldilocks zone between professional seriousness and playful fun. He tries to bring both with him creating a space where others can do the same.
